Florida head coach Billy Donovan has led USA Basketball?s U19 team to the gold medal game at the FIBA World Championships in Prague, Czech Republic. The American squad posted a 100-60 win over Lithuania in the semifinals on Saturday to earn a spot in the final against Serbia.
?
Florida guard Michael Frazier II (Tampa, Fla.) scored nine points against Lithuania, shooting 3-for-4 from the 3-point line.
?
"I thought it (the USA's focus and intensity) was really good," said Donovan. "This was a game where our guys came out and really from start to finish played really, really good basketball and I was proud of them tonight.
?
"We gave ourselves an opportunity to play for the gold medal, that was the goal and now we'll have a great challenge against a Serbia team that obviously we played in an incredibly hard-played game a couple of days ago."
?
The teams met in the group stage, with the USA claiming a 71-62 win against Serbia on July 3. The Serbian team has been the only opponent to stay within 25 points of the USA during the competition.
?
The gold medal game will be at 2:15 p.m. Eastern on Sunday and will be streamed live on ESPN3.
?
The countries previously met in the 2007 gold medal game, with Serbia claiming the victory. This year marks the 11th playing of the U19 World Championships (formerly the Junior World Championships), and the USA will be playing for its fifth gold medal all-time.
